Overview[]
Each enemy in the game has a chance to become Corrupted, increasing its stats and granting it new skills if the corruption level is high enough. Corruption comes in three different levels, one being the lowest and three being the highest. The chance to encounter a Corrupted enemy is increased when the leader player is a higher level than the recommended level for the area.
In most cases, Corruption enhances the afflicted enemy with increased stats and new skills. There are a few exceptions, but most of the time, it is expected that:
At Corruption Level 1, it grants:
- +5 Hitpoints
- +1 SP & +2 Max SP
- +2 Power
- +1 Defense
- A shroud of Faint Corruption Aura (can be dropped as a Gear)
- XP & Cent yield is multiplied by 1.6x
At Corruption Level 2, it grants:
- +10 Hitpoints
- +2 SP & +4 Max SP
- +4 Power
- +2 Defense
- +1 Cheeseburger, +1 Milk in inventory (if Humanoid or Giant)
- Most enemies will have an extra Skill, such as a Bandit using Savage Hit. (Does not apply to Mini-Bosses and Bosses.)
- Immunity to Stun and Stuck Status
- A shroud of Pure Corruption Aura (can be dropped as a Gear)
- A change in appearance, with there being predominant, visible purple themes in clothing and skin (some enemies may not have a purple theme in some of their clothes, like a Corrupted Dweller having a blood redcloak/scarf)
- Corrupted variants of Gear that normally drop
- XP & Cent yield is multiplied by 2.3x
At Corruption Level 3, it grants:
- +20 Hitpoints
- +3 SP & +6 Max SP
- +6 Power
- +3 Defense
- +2 Cheeseburgers, +1 Hot Sauce, and +1 BBQ Sauce in inventory (if Humanoid or Giant)
- Enemies will have up to two extra Skills, including the one they get from Corruption 2 (Does not apply to Mini-Bosses and Bosses.)
- Immunity to Stun and Stuck Status
- A shroud of Vibrant Corruption Aura (can be dropped as a Gear)
- A change in appearance (with a more intense purple theme), with their skin color becoming a magenta color. Skin difference depends on the enemy body type.
- Corrupted variants of Gear that normally drop
- XP & Cent yield is multiplied by 3x
Trivia[]
- The Maelstrom seems to be the source of corrupted enemies, as stated in the description of the Faint Corruption Aura cosmetic.
- Corruption 2 and 3 enemies drop the same Corrupted gear (excluding their respective Corruption Auras, alongside with the Corrupted Snowman Head), despite the enemies differing in appearance.
- Mini-Bosses and Bosses do not gain any new Skills at Corruption 2 or Corruption 3.
- Common enemy name-tags' color will change to red when at Corruption 3.
- Player death messages will display the Corruption level of the enemy they were defeated by.
- Golems are the only basic enemies in the game to not gain any new skills when Corrupted.
- Regular field enemies with high Corruption have the potential to have stronger stats than uncorrupted bosses.
- For example, a Corruption 3 Burglar has stronger stats than the standard Bandit King.
- Tanglers are the only enemy that doesn't have any unique gear drops when Corrupted, as they don't have gear drops to begin with.
- The Wraith Aura is one of the only dropped gear not to feature a Corrupted variant.
- The community often uses a abbreviated form to refer to Corruption level. ie. "C3" for Corruption 3.
- The Corruption level symbol used to be displayed at the bottom of the enemy. However, this was changed in later versions to simply being displayed at the top.
