Probably someone was throwing stuff or rather giving them to other players. I do it too sometimes whenever am full gear and i can sell dupes for cents :>

I asked him on twitter if he can ever come back but the only information i got is that he wished he could work in both games, also he didn't really liked the way certain things were coded in Adventure Story, and he doesn't have the inspiration at the moment to add new areas/enemies.
