Overview
Bedrock is the first major boss in the game. It is found in the second part in Druid Grove which can only be opened by using the Grove Key.
Bedrock is a supersized Golem with grass protrusions instead of spikes. Horns protrude out the head, with more horns appearing as corruption level increases.
Under normal circumstances, it is accompanied by Druid Grove enemies (Tanglers, Druids, and Golems) with the quantity depending on the leader's level.
Players will be granted a Magical Stone when they defeat Bedrock for the first time.
Skills
- Shockwave (Boss Cheat) - Activates whenever an item is used. Deals 3 Damage to all players. Undodgeable and unblockable.
- Corruption 2+ Druids can also trigger Shockwave when they use an item.
- Bedrock won't use Shockwave if he is Asleep.
- Fury (2) - Deals 3 Damage to self and gains Power Up-3 for two turns.
- Brutalize (4) - Deals 10 Damage to a single target. Inflicts Broken Bones-3 and Stun for two turns. Undodgeable.
- Rock Storm (2) - Deals 6 Damage to all players in join order, and inflicts Weakness-1 for three turns. Dodgeable.
- Earthquake (1) - At the start of each player's turn, deal 1 Damage to all allies and enemies. Undodgeable.
- Nap Time (0) - Inflict self with Sleep for one turn. Shockwave is inactive during Sleep's duration.
Strategy
Because of Shockwave, using items besides the Hoagie in critical situations is not recommended. While Bedrock falls Asleep, items can be used without penalty. Alternatively, Ice Armor completely blocks the 3 Damage from Shockwave without any Power Ups or Weaknesses.
Using Action Commands (dodging and blocking) to defend against Bedrock's attacks is a near necessity, as Rock Storm's Weakness causes you to take 2 Damage from Earthquake without Defense, and Brutalize's Stun will leave you vulnerable to a follow-up attack.
If possible, remove any accompanying Druids within the first turn, as Recovery and Nature Power will make Bedrock are more considerable threat. Two 'Critical!' Fiery Explosion is enough to get rid of any uncorrupted Druids, in addition to damaging any other enemies in the field.
Bedrock has a high Defense of 4, so it is recommended for a player to use Stone Arm to decrease Bedrock's Defense. Use Dull Rapier as the main source of attack against Bedrock.
Bedrock is immune to all damage-over-time and turn-skipping statuses, rendering skills like Lightning Spear and Slap as poor options compared to Basic Archery.
The same strategy can be used against a Corrupted Bedrock, except weaker skills like Basic Archery are completely blocked by the increased Defense without the Power Stone, and even then it Is only 1 Damage on a "Critical!" hit. Against a Corruption 2 and 3 Bedrock, Stunning Stone Arm and Stunning Evil Impact is recommended over Tough Stone Arm and Dull Rapier because Bedrock's higher Defense has made the former 2 skills more SP efficient.
Trivia
- Bedrock is the 1st major boss in the game.
- Bedrock is the 1st enemy in-game to have a Boss Cheat, a sequence that occurs when a specific action is performed. In Bedrock's case, it damages all players whenever an item is used.
- Bedrock is currently the only enemy to have a Strange Style.
- When Bedrock uses Fury, players are blown backwards off their feet. This usually goes unseen by players in the battle due to the camera pointing at Bedrock.
- Bedrock, inhibiting both the title of being a boss and a being made of rock, means that Bedrock is immune to all known debuff statuses except for Weakness.
- Hilariously, Bedrock can destroy itself by using Fury with 3 Hitpoints or less.
