Overview

Each enemy in the game has a chance to become Corruption.pngCorrupted, increasing its stats and granting it new skills if the corruption level is high enough. Corruption.pngCorruption comes in three different levels, one being the lowest and three being the highest. The chance to encounter a Corruption.pngCorrupted enemy is increased when the leader player is a higher level than the recommended level for the area.

In most cases, Corruption.pngCorruption enhances the afflicted enemy with increased stats and new skills. There are a few exceptions, but most of the time, it is expected that:

At Corruption.pngCorruption Level 1, it grants:

  • HP.png+5 Hitpoints
  • SP.png+1 SP & SP.png+2 Max SP
  • POW.png+2 Power
  • DEF.png+1 Defense
  • A shroud of Faint Corruption Aura (can be dropped as a Gear)
  • XP & Cent yield is multiplied by 1.6x

At Corruption.pngCorruption Level 2, it grants:

  • HP.png+10 Hitpoints
  • SP.png+2 SP & SP.png+4 Max SP
  • POW.png+4 Power
  • DEF.png+2 Defense
  • +1 Cheeseburger, +1 Milk in inventory (if Humanoid or Giant)
  • Certain enemies will have an extra Skill, such as a Bandit using Savage Hit.
  • Immunity to Stun.pngStun and Stuck.pngStuck Status
  • A shroud of Pure Corruption Aura (can be dropped as a Gear)
  • A change in appearance (with predominant, visible purple themes in clothing and skin (most enemies may not have a purple theme in clothes like The Bandit King with a more pink hood/mask and Dwellers having a blood red cloak/scarf))
  • Corruption.pngCorrupted variants of Gear that normally drop
  • XP & Cent yield is multiplied by 2.3x

At Corruption.pngCorruption Level 3, it grants:

  • HP.png+20 Hitpoints
  • SP.png+3 SP & SP.png+6 Max SP
  • POW.png+6 Power
  • DEF.png+3 Defense
  • +2 Cheeseburger, +1 Hot Sauce, and +1 BBQ Sauce in inventory (if Humanoid or Giant)
  • Enemies will have up to two extra Skills
  • Immunity to Stun.pngStun and Stuck.pngStuck Status
  • A shroud of Vibrant Corruption Aura (can be dropped as a Gear)
  • A change in appearance (with a more intense purple theme), with their skin color becoming a magenta color. Skin difference depends on the enemy body type.
  • Corruption.pngCorrupted variants of Gear that normally drop
  • XP & Cent yield is multiplied by 3x

Trivia

  • It's possible that the Maelstrom is the source of corrupted enemies, as stated in the description of the Faint Corruption Aura cosmetic.
  • Corruption.pngCorruption 2 and 3 enemies have the same Corrupted Gear drops (excluding their respective Corruption Auras) even though the enemies may differ in appearance.
  • Mini-Bosses and Bosses do not gain any new Skills at Corruption.pngCorruption 2 or Corruption.pngCorruption 3.
  • Common enemy name-tags' color will change to red when at Corruption 3. Boss name-tags will change to purple when at Corruption 3.
  • Player death messages will display the corruption level of the enemy they were defeated by.
    • Defeat by a Corruption.pngCorruption 3 enemy yields a purple text death message rather than the usual pastel red.
  • Golems are the only basic enemies in the game to not gain any new skills when corrupted.
  • Regular field enemies with high Corruption.pngCorruption have the potential to have stronger stats than uncorrupted bosses.
  • Tanglers are the only enemy that doesn't have any unique gear drops when corrupted, as they don't have gear drops to begin with.
  • The Wraith Aura is one of the only dropped gear not to feature a Corrupted variant, regardless of its level.
