Vine Trap is a skill obtained by collecting upgraded Tangler Cards. Tough Vine Trap is received from obtaining an Elite Tangler Card. Stunning Vine Trap is received from obtaining a Super Tangler Card.
Just like all Card skills, there are no alternative colors.
The timing for the Action Command is when the vine has stopped rising around the target. Performing the Action Command performs an 'Critical!' hit, increasing the Damage dealt.
Vine Trap is easily one of the most efficient single-target skills in the game, as even without the status effect in consideration the Tough variant deals more damage than Slap and the Stunning variant rivals Dull Rapier and Evil Impact in damage with half the SP cost. It is an excellent choice thanks to the damage alone.
When dealing with virtually any non-corrupted, non-boss enemy, Stuck will also come into play as it prevents skills from being used. Enemies without Items (such as Druids and non-humanoids) will effectively be stunned, but most Humanoid foes will opt to use any items they have instead of passing. However, Stuck will always be inflicted even if the 'Critical!' hit is missed, making it effective even when the occasional mistake happens.
- Vine Trap does not inflict Stuck if no Damage was dealt or if the target has Stun Guard.
- Keeping vine trap at tough will prove more useful than upgrading it, for stunning vine trap can be replaced with bomb toss.
